Libra

Sanskrit: Tula

the diplomat: it seeks balance, beauty, and fair dealing — weighing both sides and disliking conflict.

In Vedic astrology, Libra (Tula) is the sign of the scales — the only sign that is not an animal, because it represents a human judgment. It is ruled by Venus and is the natural house of relationship. Wherever Libra appears in a chart is where the native weighs, compares, and seeks harmony: the arena of life where fairness, beauty, and the other person matter most.

Libra is the great balancer. It governs partnership, justice, aesthetics, and the social arts — the kidneys, which filter and balance the body's fluids. Its strength is an almost instinctive sense of proportion: a Libran placement sees both sides of every dispute, smooths conflict, and makes beautiful what it touches. Its shadow is the same weighing that never concludes: indecision, people-pleasing, and the avoidance of confrontation that lets problems fester unspoken.

The native with strong Libra placements cannot be happy alone or in chaos. They are the diplomats, designers, and partners of the chart — most themselves when in relationship, and most challenged when forced to choose.

  • Anatomy: The kidneys, the lower back, and the organs of balance.
