When Ketu occupies Anuradha, the seventeenth of the 27 lunar mansions, the planet of detachment opens the lotus. Anuradha is ruled by Saturn and presided over by Mitra, the god of friendship. Its symbol is the staff — and Ketu here is the loyal mystic: devoted, steady, and free of the very bonds it keeps.
This Ketu serves without clinging. Where Ketu in Swati moves between worlds, Ketu in Anuradha stays — the native's detachment runs through loyalty itself, keeping faith without needing the faith returned.
Core Manifestations
- The Steady Devotion: This Ketu brings a remarkable constancy. The native keeps promises, stays through hardship, and builds the long commitment that others abandon.
- The Friend Without Demand: Anuradha gives this Ketu a pure friendship. The native is a loyal companion who asks for nothing — their presence is steady, their help unconditional.
- The Disciplined Spirit: There is a natural seriousness here. The native's spirituality is patient and structured, built through practice rather than inspiration.
The Shadow: The Loyalty That Forgets Itself
The shadow of this placement is service without boundaries. A Ketu in Anuradha can give so steadily that they vanish into the giving — loyalty becomes self-erasure, and the native forgets they are also allowed to receive. The lesson is that detachment is not the same as self-sacrifice; the native must learn to serve and still be present as themselves.
Dasha Activation
During the 7-year Ketu Mahadasha, this placement's themes rise: a period of release from obligations, loyalties, and the need to be needed — in which the native's steady devotion either frees their love or teaches them the cost of giving until nothing remains.
